2027: Bauchi Needs Youthful Leadership, Not Empty Promises — Mai Borno of Dass”

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Dr. Hassan Haleem Abdullahi, the 1st Mai Borno of Dass, has called for the emergence of a young, energetic, and visionary governor in 2027 to address workers’ welfare and critical infrastructural challenges.

Speaking during an exclusive Sallah interview with journalists in Bauchi, Abdullahi emphasized the urgent need for youth participation in governance, urging them to unite and take up leadership responsibilities for the progress of the state.

He expressed optimism that Bauchi voters would resist political inducement and make informed choices in the 2027 elections, prioritizing competence over monetary influence.

Highlighting key development concerns, Abdullahi noted that persistent water scarcity, especially in Bauchi metropolis and surrounding areas, remains a major challenge.

He argued that effective provision of pipe-borne water could significantly ease the financial burden on workers, who often spend a substantial portion of their income sourcing water.

According to him, many aspirants eyeing the governorship lack concrete plans to transform the state, describing their ambitions as mere rhetoric without actionable blueprints.

He further advised youths to remain self-reliant and avoid being used as political tools or engaging in electoral violence, stressing the importance of peaceful and issue-based politics.

Abdullahi also maintained that the next governor should possess strong business acumen, noting that such experience would reduce overdependence on federal allocations and improve the state’s capacity to meet salary obligations.

He added that the APC in Bauchi State would not support a single-term governorship arrangement in 2027, expressing confidence that a credible and popular youth candidate with a solid grassroots base and clear development blueprint would soon emerge.

“I pray that by 2027, Bauchi residents will rise above sentiment and elect leaders capable of addressing pressing challenges, particularly insecurity in the North,” he said.
