The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the suicide bomb attacks that rocked Maiduguri, Borno State, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives and leaving many others injured.

Our correspondent reports that simultaneous explosions hit the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Monday market roundabout, and post office area perpetrated by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

NANS in a press release issued to our correspondent on Tuesday, by its Zone E (North-East) coordinator, Comrade Mu’azu Hina, sympathised with the families of the victims and called for immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the attack.

.

The students association urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in addressing insecurity in the North-East and ensure the safety of students, especially those studying in institutions within the region.

Hina also called on security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and security presence in vulnerable areas to prevent future occurrences.

“NANS also calls on Nigerian students nationwide to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times. Students are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movements, activities, or individuals to the appropriate security agencies.

“Collective vigilance and timely reporting are critical in preventing further acts of violence and safeguarding our communities.

“Terrorism in all its forms must be decisively confronted. The safety of Nigerian citizens, particularly students, must remain a top priority at all times”, he said.
