Former Senate Minority Leader and two-term lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, has resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Aduda disclosed this in a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward, where he cited the lingering crisis within the party as the reason for his decision.

Although details of the crisis were not fully elaborated, his exit adds to growing concerns over internal divisions within the PDP and their potential impact on the party’s fortunes in the FCT and beyond.

Advertorial

Aduda is a prominent political figure in the FCT, having served in the Nigerian Senate from 2011 to 2023, where he rose to the position of Senate Minority Leader.

Prior to that, he was a member of the House of Representatives, representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2011.

Known for his strong grassroots presence in Abuja, Aduda has remained an influential voice in the territory’s politics over the years.

His resignation is expected to trigger political realignments, as stakeholders watch closely to see his next move
