Bala Mohammed’s Aide Accuses Wike of Threatening Bauchi Peace

The Special Adviser on Youth Affairs to the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Sale Chiroma, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of allegedly working to disrupt the relative peace in Bauchi State.

Ciroma warned that Wike’s move if unchecked is capable of undermining Nigeria’s democratic system.

He alleged that the actions of the former Rivers State governor were politically motivated and capable of triggering instability similar to past crises witnessed in Rivers.

He made the allegations on Friday while addressing journalists in Bauchi, following recent claims linking Governor Bala Mohammed, the state Commissioner of Finance, and three other officials currently standing trial before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to allegations of terrorism financing and money laundering.

The Special Adviser described the allegations as false, malicious, and politically motivated, insisting they were part of a deliberate plot to tarnish the image of the governor.

According to Chiroma, the accusations are calculated attempts to weaken Governor Bala Mohammed at a time when he is gaining increased political acceptance and national relevance ahead of future elections.

“The youth of Bauchi State will not take these allegations lightly,”he warned.

“These are grave accusations against a governor widely known for peace, unity, and tolerance, irrespective of political affiliation, religion, or ethnicity”

Chiroma emphasised that Governor Bala Mohammed’s public service record as a former senator, minister, and now governor speaks for itself.

He noted that Bauchi State remains one of the safest states in northern Nigeria and across the country.

“Our governor has served Nigeria with distinction. Bauchi State continues to enjoy relative peace and security under his leadership,” he added.

The Special Adviser vowed that the Bauchi State Government would explore all legal avenues to address what he described as misinformation and defamatory claims linking the governor to terrorism.

He also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene and take appropriate action to prevent the situation from escalating into political unrest.

“Mr President, I want to respectfully inform you that the Minister of the FCT is allegedly planning not only to destabilise Bauchi State but the entire country for selfish political interests, as was the case in Rivers State. Mr President needs to act swiftly before it is too late,” Chiroma said.

He further warned the FCT minister to desist from what he described as persistent attacks on the Bauchi State Governor and instead focus on his constitutional responsibility of developing the Federal Capital Territory.

Chiroma also urged the EFCC to ensure professionalism and due diligence in handling allegations brought before it, stressing that the commission must avoid being perceived as an instrument of political witch-hunting in order to maintain public trust and international credibility.

Meanwhile, the ongoing war of words between Governor Bala Mohammed and Minister Wike reportedly intensified following the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a new party leadership emerged and suspended Wike and some of his supporters.

The development deepened factional divisions within the party and resulted in parallel leadership structures.

The dispute further escalated during the swearing-in of party executives at Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

Governor Bala Mohammed had also alleged, during a recent appearance on Channels Television, that the FCT minister had “put fire” in Bauchi State and was determined to politically undermine him for refusing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a related development, a pressure group known as the Fanka Movement has announced plans to embark on a road march from Bauchi to Abuja to submit a petition to the National Assembly over what it described as the FCT minister’s alleged plan to destabilise Nigeria’s political system.

The group’s chairman, Yakubu Danladi, disclosed that mobilisation had reached an advanced stage, with over 10,000 youths ready to participate when called upon.
