Bauchi Governor Mourns Renowned Islamic Scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of one of Nigeria’s most respected Islamic scholars, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
Dahiru Bauchi passed away in the early hours of Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the age of 102 in Bauchi.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed described the late Sheikh Bauchi as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship.
Ho Governor Mohammed said the renowned cleric ‘s life was defined by faith, humility, and unwavering dedication to the service of God and humanity.
“Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was a revered teacher and spiritual guide whose influence transcended borders. His lifelong commitment to the propagation of Islam,” the governor stated.
“His teaching of the Holy Qur’an, and the moral upliftment of society produced thousands of students who memorized the Qur’an and spread Islamic knowledge across Africa”
The governor stated that rhe late scholar, celebrated for his immense contributions to Islamic jurisprudence, theology, and history, was also praised as a custodian of religious knowledge and an advocate for peace, tolerance, and unity among diverse communities.
Governors’ Mohammed, speaking on behalf of his family, the Bauchi State Government, and the people of the state, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, his followers, students, and the entire Muslim community.
“As we mourn this monumental loss, we take solace in the fact that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi lived a life dedicated to Allah and to the enlightenment of generations. His legacy will continue to guide future scholars and believers,” he added.
The Bauchi State Government pledged to honor the memory of the late scholar by supporting Islamic education, moral discipline, and community development—values the Sheikh championed throughout his lifetime.
Governor Mohammed prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy upon the departed, asking that the Almighty grant him Aljannatul Firdaus while giving the family and Muslim community the strength to bear the loss.
