Governor Mohammed Declares 5th Accountants MCPD Session Open in Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Tuesday declared open the 5th Session of the 2025 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) Programme of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), held at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre, Bauchi.
The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau, welcomed participants and described Bauchi as an emerging hub of learning, peace, and institutional development.
Mohammed commended ANAN for maintaining professionalism, accountability, and leadership in deepening corporate governance and bridging gaps between the public and private sectors.
“I commend ANAN for its vision and for sustaining professionalism and leadership in bridging the gap between corporate practice and deepening corporate governance,” he said.
“I urge all participants to use this platform to improve the quality of governance across both sectors.”
In her address, ANAN President and Chairman of Council, Chief (Hajia) Zuwairat Talatu Kishimi, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala Mohammed for hosting the event in Bauchi and for his administration’s exemplary leadership. She praised the Governor’s achievements in education, human capital development, and infrastructure growth, noting that these have made Bauchi an attractive hub for business, innovation, and peace.
Kishimi said this year’s MCPD theme, “Corporate Value Creation and Reporting,” was carefully chosen to enhance members’ capacity for quality service delivery and strengthen corporate accountability across sectors.
Also speaking, the Bauchi State Branch Chairman of ANAN, Mr. Sirajo Mohammed Jaja, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering commitment to the development of the state.
Jaja highlighted the Governor’s remarkable strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment, describing the new Sir Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre as a testament to his vision.
The branch chairman further applauded the Governor’s recognition of ANAN members’ competence by appointing several of them to key government positions, including Permanent Secretaries, Auditor-Generals, and top officials in the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Jaja reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting good governance, transparency, and professional excellence in public service.
Governor Mohammed, through his deputy, reiterated his administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and inclusive growth, noting that Bauchi State’s development plan aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
