Miyetti Allah Commends FG For Designating 415 Grazing Areas
By Najib Sani, Gombe
The fulani socio-cultural association,
‘Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore’, has commended the Federal Ministry of Livestock’s initiative to designate, gazette and develop 415 grazing reserves across Nigeria.
The association made the commendation in a press statement signed by its national president, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo and national secretary Saleh Alhassan issued to our correspondent on Monday.
According to them, the initiative would go a long way in resolving the farmer and herders conflicts as well as boost livestock production.
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore condemned the profiling of fulani pastoralists by some media outlets and called for unbiased reporting on farmer-herder conflicts.
The association noted with dismay the continuous massacre of fulani pastoralists by non-state actors and vigilantes, calling on the Inspector General of Police to set up a panel to investigate and bring perpetrators to justice.
Aside that, the association applauded the National Security Adviser and Senate Committee on national security and intelligence for adopting kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to address conflicts in the north-west region.
They dismissed claims that farmer-herder conflicts are the major drivers of instability in Nigeria, attributing the issue to state-sponsored vigilantes and tribal hordes.
The association called for an overhaul of Nigeria’s security and justice systems to address alleged injustices faced by pastoralists and urged the government to ensure adequate funding for the Ministry of Livestock Development.
This is even as they expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to livestock development and the welfare of pastoralists.
