The National Women Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Naomi Lasara Abel, has condemned the latest attacks in Borno State that reportedly led to the death of more than 60 lives and left many others injured.
Our correspondent recalls that there was a raid by suspected Boko Haram terrorists at Darul Jama community in Bama local government area of the state last Friday night where the fighters arrived on motorbikes, shooting indiscriminately and setting homes ablaze.
In a press release issued to our correspondent on Tuesday, she described the incident as a devastating loss, not only to Borno State but to the entire nation.
According to her, the unfortunate occurrence underscores the urgent need for government and relevant authorities to strengthen preventive and protective measures to ensure such tragedies do not happen again.
She lamented on how terrorist activities resurface in the state saying there is need for security agents to adopt preventive approach not reactive to protect the lives and property of the citizens.
The ADC women leader also suggested that more security personnel should be recruited to enable the security agencies to effectively tackle terrorism.
“I believe there is need for the federal government to recruit more security personnel in the country for deployment to crises areas because security is the primary responsibility of the government.
“On behalf of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), I sympathise deeply with the families of the deceased and pray for the quick recovery of all who sustained injuries”, she said.
