APC Youth Parliament Marks VP Shettima’s 59th Birthday with Release of 59 Inmates, Support for 59 Orphans

From Paul Orude Bauchi
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament, North-East, has commemorated the 59th birthday of Vice President Kashim Shettima with a humanitarian gesture, facilitating the release of 59 inmates from the Bauchi Correctional Centre and providing financial support to 59 orphans.
Speaking during the event in Bauchi on Friday, the Parliament’s Chairman, Kabiru Garba Kobi, explained that the gesture symbolised Shettima’s 59 years of life and service to humanity.
“We paid millions of naira to settle fines and compensations for 59 inmates, enabling them to regain freedom. We also supported 59 orphans with cash and donated medicines for other prisoners. This is our way of celebrating a leader who has always been committed to the people,” Kobi said.
Kobi described the Vice President as a visionary and patriotic leader whose humility and resilience continue to inspire young Nigerians.
Kobi notrd that Shettima’s impact on the North-East was akin to that of the late Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, saying that youths across the country are proud of his achievements.
Also speaking, Imam Umar Yahuza Bauchi noted that assisting orphans is a divine act with immense blessings, especially in the education sector.
Educationist Dr. Zuwaira Musa stressed the need for collective efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state, describing the challenge as a major obstacle to national development.
Political activist Comrade Sabo Muhammad urged the Parliament to replicate the initiative across Bauchi’s zones, while also warning against moves to undermine Shettima’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.
He further encouraged residents to take the ongoing national voter registration seriously, noting that it remains the surest path to enthroning the government of their choice.
The event concluded with prayers for Vice President Shettima, wishing him long life, good health, and greater service to the nation.
One of the freed inmates, Bashir Ahmad, who was earlier fined N30,000, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries to both the APC Youth Parliament and the Vice President for securing their freedom and offering renewed hope.
