Gala Night in Jalingo Kicks Off North-East Governors’ Meeting

Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed joins other North East Governors in Taraba State. Governor Agbu Kefas welcomes his colleagues as chief host of his fellow North-East Governors.
The North East Governors’ meeting will kick off Saturday August 30,2025. Already the governors’ had a gala night at House banquet hall in Jalingo, the event brought together key leaders from the region, including the Chairman Of PDP Governor’s Forum Senator Bala Mohammed, of Bauchi State, and Chairman of the Forum, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State.

The evening featured captivating performances from traditional and contemporary cultural troupes across Taraba and neighboring states, showcasing the rich diversity and unity of the North-East.
During the preparatory meeting, in his welcome address, Governor Kefas of Taraba state emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in tackling shared challenges.
“This gathering is not just a celebration of our culture, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to peace, development, and prosperity in the North-East,” he said.
Kefas called on his colleagues to continue fostering brotherhood and collaboration in the face of insecurity, poverty, and infrastructural deficits.
Professor Zulum, who delivered the vote of thanks, praised the hospitality of the Taraba State Government and described the evening as a symbolic gesture of unity.
“Tonight’s celebration sets the tone for tomorrow’s deliberations,” he stated
“We are here not just to discuss policy, but to strengthen the bonds that hold our region together”
Meanwhile, Governor Mohamed, hinted the significance of the meeting as timely avenue of achieving goals for the betterment of the region.
The North-East Governors’ Forum meeting will formally commence at 10:00 am on Saturday at the Taraba State Government House.
Key issues on the agenda include regional security strategies, economic development plans, and infrastructure revitalization.
The meeting will set strengthen regional development as objectives of the meeting would centered on issues bedeviling the region and the people of the country by extension.
Pundits believes the governors meeting stands as a powerful reminder of the cultural wealth and collective strength that define the North-East and the shared vision that continues to guide its leaders.
