Yobe State has been ranked as the top-performing state in Nigeria in terms of budget implementation for the first half of 2024, achieving an impressive 98.6% execution rate.
This is according to a new report released by Agora Policy, a Nigerian think tank, which analyzed official Budget Implementation Reports from across the federation alongside its own independent calculations.
Following Yobe on the performance chart are Delta State with 97.9%, Rivers (93.4%), Ekiti (87.9%), and Lagos (87.0%). Others in the top 10 include Bauchi (86.9%), Osun (86.5%), Edo (83.2%), Kogi (79.9%), and Akwa Ibom (79.1%).
Analysts at Agora Policy described Yobe’s near-perfect score as a clear sign of a government that is not only planning but also delivering on its promises to the people.
In his reaction, Yusuf Ali, the Focal Person on Digital and Strategic Communications to the Yobe State Government, said the report affirms Yobe’s growing reputation as a model of accountable governance and effective public service delivery.
“This outstanding performance underscores Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and efficient governance,” Ali said.
He added that the Buni administration has consistently prioritized timely and effective implementation of budgetary provisions, especially in key sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, and security.
