Bauchi State government is implementing various strategies and initiatives to address the root causes of insecurity for the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.
The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, gave the assurance on Thursday when he received, members of Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command & Staff College Jaji.
According to a statement signed by Muslim Lawal,Special Assistant (Media)Deputy Governor’s Office, they were in Bauchi on a study tour with the theme “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhanced Security”
Jatau said the strategies adopted include working to increase the presence of police personnel in key hotpots, especially in rural areas.
He said the collaboration with military and other security agencies on joint operations aimed at flushing out insurgents, promoting dialogue between conflicting communities as well as implementing skills acquisition and job creation programmes to reduce unemployment.
The deputy governor noted that, tackling poverty and unemployment especially among the youths would complement the efforts of members of the Armed Forces towards finding a lasting solution to various forms of security challenges in the country.
“Bauchi State, like other states, has its share of security challenges. However, the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is operating with a structure that recognises the value of information from the grassroot level by leveraging local intelligence to address security challenges.
“It is gratifying to note that the measures have made Bauchi State among the most peaceful states in the North-East sub-region”.
The Deputy Governor on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed appreciated the participants for the visit, hoping that their study report will assist in addressing challenges facing the nation.
On his part, the team leader, Air Commodore A. Audu expressed gratitude to the state government for assisting the team to conduct the study tour in the state effectively.
