2027: Coalition Appeals To Bauchi Speaker To Endorse Jika For Governor

A Coalition has called on the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman, to endorse Senator Haliru Dauda Jika for the 2027 governorship election.
Jika, a one-time Speaker of the state Assembly, was the governorship candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in 2023.
The coalition made the appeal in a letter addressed to the Speaker, a copy made available to newsmen
Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman.
The letter, entitled Appeal for support in championing Sen Haliru Jika Dokacin Bauchí for Governor of Bauchi State, was signed by Ahmed Yero, Lawan Isa, Adamu Abdullahi Hassan (AA Hassan and Auwal Bala Amin as members of Coalition Steering Committee.
“As sons and daughters of Bauchi State, we are soliciting for your support and understanding to join hands with us in our efforts to move Bauchi State forward. we are well aware that there are other well qualified sons of Bauchi State who equally have the capacity to lead the state,” the letter read in part
“As well, we firmly acknowledged previous efforts made by successive administrations since 1999 in advancing our State through various initiatives and policies, and we believe that collective action is essential for our state’s continued progress.
“As we look ahead to the 2027 election year, it’s crucial that we strategically plan for the future of our state together; to Building on the significant growth and achievements of the past two decades,
“We are determined to take Bauchi State to the next level with your support. Hence, we invite you to join us in this endeavor, as working together to advance the development of our state and the social wellbeing of all Bauchi people”
They described Jika, popularly known by his traditional title of Dokaji, as a visionary young leader and uniquely equipped to address the challenges facing of the state and steer it toward a future of inclusive growth, security, and prosperity.
“Amid a crowded field of contenders, Dokaji stands out as reliable, compassionate, and prepared to lead our great state. Allow us to outline why candidacy merits your endorsement,” the coalition stated
“Dokaji has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public service.
“As a former Speaker of Bauchi State House of Assembly/Member, House of Representatives/ Senator, he spearheaded many initiatives in security, job creation programmes, infrastructure upgrades, and education reforms, delivering measurable improvements to local, schools.
“His ability to collaborate across party lines and mobilize grassroots support reflects a leadership style rooted in pragmatism and integrity.
“His vision Aligned with the Bauchi State. Dokaji has presented a clear, actionable roadmap tailored to our state’s unique challenges.
“He plans to prioritize Economic Revitalization: Innovative policies to attract industries, support SMEs, and create jobs.
The coalition said they approached the Speaker to endorse Dokaji because of his political influence and a critical voice in shaping public opinion.
“By endorsing Dokaji, you would amplify a movement dedicated to progress over partisanship, competence over complacency, and hope over division. Together, we can ensure Bauchi State elects a governor who embodies both the heart and intellect needed to govern effectively”
