Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Sabitu Aliyu, has described the on-going revalidation and membership registration across the 20 Local Government Areas ahead of the party’s forthcoming State Congress as a successful and hitch-free.

Sabitu made the disclosure on Monday during an interview with our correspondent in his office in Bauchi, explaining that the exercise is on-going across the country.

He said intending members register on their android phone and register over 1000 people.

“As I speak to you now we have an ongoing membership registration exercise taking place, not only the state but across all the 20 local government and all the 312 polling units that we have in Bauchi State,” he said.

“The outcome is very encouraging based on the report we have having.

“The essence of the registration is to see how we can improve on the old ways of doing things, try to integrate ourselves with ICT because the registration is online.

“Our people should know that that they can register and become part of the party, especially the young ones and women.

“Labour Party is about the minority people in Bauchi and Nigeria as a whole.

“We are expected to bring change where our people will have access to basic amenities where the suffering will be reduced.

“I am assuring the public that there is a lot of development so far with this registration and people are coming up

The LP Chairman, who is currently serving on interim capacity, assured that his executive would take the party in the state to the next level ahead of the state congress.

“We came here to make sure we reposition the party to bring people from the rural communities to join us,” he stated.

“This is just a road map to 2027.

“We are positioning ourselves in the state and by the grace of God this time around we are coming with positive outcome”

Sabitu expressed optimism that the LP party was on top gear regarding our state congress in Bauchi.

“We have already educated our people,” he disclosed.

“That is why we are doing ur membership registration drive.

“Without membership you can’t go into a successful congress.

“We are encouraging the general public to make sure they do this registration so that during the congress they will come out and vote the candidates of their choice.

“The congress will be free and fair and the party does not have any preferred candidate in mind.

The most important things is for the general public to come out and join labour party.

“We are assuring of a successful congress.

“We need to strengthen  the party at the grassroots so we need to come out enmass to organize a free and fair congress and we are assuring people that it will be free and fair, that they should join us so we can have a credible candidate in 2027”

He however, disclosed that the LP in the state encounters challenge of funds.

“We don’t have any allocation so we have to source money within us to make sure we have office across the state, in the Local Government Areas and wards,” he said.

Sabitu clarified the position of the party regarding itsnational leadership.

“We don’t have any faction in LP, not only in Bauchi state but at the national in the entire country,” he stated.

“Our national chairman is Barrister Julius Abure.

“Recently we had a verdict where the federal court of Appeal that affirmed him as  the national chairman of labour.

“In Bauchi we don’t have any faction.

“We are working as a team and even those people that left we are working  on some modalities to see how we can bring them back to integrate ourselves to become one big family so that we can have a successful 2027”
