The accusation by a former speaker federal house of representatives, Yakubu Dogara, that the Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed has betrayed former governor of Rivers State, now minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has elicited reactions from the governor’s aides who assert that the ex lawmaker is trying to regain ‘his lost ground in politics’.

Dogara alleged that Governor Mohammed betrayed ‘his benefactor’, Nyesom Wike, who supported his gubernatorial campaign in 2019′.

But in a press release issued to our correspondent in Gombe, the special assistant to the governor on youth, Bala Rambo, opined that Dogara’s outburst was meant to revive his political career, saying “he has since lost ground in the state and national politics due to his blunders in the last general elections”.

According to him, Dogara allegedly sabotaged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) when he vehemently opposed the candidature of the President Bola Tinubu on fielding Muslim-Muslim ticket which eventually came to pass.

He added that the former speaker ‘indulged in unscrupulous criticism’ of the governor to avoid political oblivion and to prevent his own political demise.

“The former speaker is just struggling to restore his relevance after his sabotage and anti party activities against his own party, APC and President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

“He is looking for second chance and desperate to save himself from political demise. However, he is unlikely to succeed, as his tactics have become transparent to everyone,” he retorted.
