The State of the Nation: A Call for Action

Published

on

The current state of Nigeria is a heavy burden on the shoulders of its citizens. The rising cost of living has crushed hopes for a better future, leaving the masses at the mercy of a monopolized oil industry. In a nation that preaches capitalism, it is ironic that the government cannot regulate fuel prices, leaving a private corporation to dictate terms.

While leaders indulge in extravagant lifestyles, they urge citizens to “bear with the situation,” as though they were mere outsiders tasked with fixing the economy. This disconnect is glaring, as insecurity escalates, the naira continues to lose value, and the people’s confidence in governance fades into oblivion.

Our universities, the cradle of national development, face the looming threat of privatization. Industrial growth is a forgotten dream, with the national grid in perpetual failure. The northern region, once vibrant, is now economically stagnant. Where is the leadership that truly serves the people?

Tears fill my eyes when I think of the younger generation – a generation robbed of a promising future. How long can we stand by and watch this? It’s time to awaken our collective conscience.

To all well-meaning Nigerians, this is a cry for action. Let us rise to demand accountability, transparency, and true service from those entrusted with our nation’s destiny. Together, we can reshape the narrative, for the betterment of our beloved country.

The time for complacency is over.
