2027: Coalition Calls On Bauchi Senator to Run For Governor

A coalition of civil society organisations, youth and women groups as well as stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Senator Shehu Baba Umar (Bauchi South) to run for the Governorship election in Bauchi State in 2027.

Hon. Engr. Ishaq Dabo, the convener inaugurated the Shehu Buba Umar Vanguard (SBUV) to serve as the platform to promote the Senator’s gubernatorial aspirations.

“We intend to mobilize, advocate and support his mandate across Bauchi State and beyond.” Dabo stated.

“We invite all sons and daughters of Bauchi State to join us in this movements for positive change and progress”

Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi at the weekend, Dabo explained that the coalition was rooting for Senator Buba to promote good governance and transparency, adding that Bauchi State was at a crossroads and in dire need of a visionary leader.

“It is clear that we need strong, visionary leadership to guide us through these turbulent times, and I believe that the time has come for someone to step forward and accept the clarion call to contest the gubernatorial seat come 2027,” he said

“As citizens, we have the power to shape the course of our state’s destiny.

“We have the responsibility to ensure that our government is accountable, transparent, and effective in serving the needs of all our people.

“We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and watch as decisions are made that impact our lives and our communities.

“That is why we are calling on Senator Shehu Buba Umar to consider running for gubernatorial seat come 2027 on the platform of our party APC”

Dabo, who is the SBUV Director General described the senator as a leader who had consistently shown a deep commitment to Bauchi state, with an unwavering dedication, experience and passion for public services.

 Various speakers extolled the qualities of Senator Buba, describing him as a leader with a proven track record of success, and promoter  of policies that had positively impacted communities and a man of the vision, integrity, and the skills needed to tackle the pressing issues facing Bauchi state and bring about positive change.

“Senator Shehu Buba Umar stands out within the APC in Bauchi State, demonstrating a genuine commitment to the party and its members, through his personal sacrifices and dedication of resources,” Dabo stated.

“SBU has worked tirelessly to address the challenges faced by our great party APC and its members, both morally and financially and its efforts have not only strengthened the party but have also fostered unity and cohesion among its members.

“He has remained resolute in safeguarding president Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s mandate in Bauchi State”

The coalition argued that Sen Buba, currently serving as the chairman senate committee on national security and intelligence,has stood out as an outspoken leader  who has sponsored numerous bills within one year in office including a bill for the establishment of the National Orthopaedic Hospitals Toro, Bauchi,  and a bill for the establishment of a Custom Training College in Bauchi State.

“Senator Shehu Buba Umar has been instrumental and notably played a vital role in the construction of the Alkaleri- Mansur Road Project providing improved transportation infrastructure for the people of Bauchi State,” Dabo stated

“He has secured Federal appointment jobs for many sons and daughters in the state, creating job opportunities and livelihoods and has also demonstrated his commitment to the health and wellbeing of the people by paying hospital bills amounting to hundreds of millions of naira for the sons and daughters of the state.

“Senator Shehu Buba Umar has drilled hundreds of Boreholes across Bauchi South to provide portable drinking water to the residents addressing a crucial need for clean water In education sector, SBU has provided scholarships to hundreds of sons and daughters of Bauchi South and beyond in tertiary institutions across the Nation and Diaspora.

“He has also facilitated the construction of schools and healthcare facilitates in rural communities, improving access to education and healthcare services to our people Senator Shehu Buba Umar has shown unwavering support for farmers in Bauchi South, providing financial assistance and empowerment programs to boost agriculture and small business.

“In addition to his political endeavours Senator Shehu Buba Umar has prioritized the empowerment of youth and women in Bauchi South and beyond through skills acquisition programs and empowerment initiatives.

“With his wealth of experience and dedication to service and grassroots politics, Senator Shehu Buba Umar possesses the best qualities needed to drive positive change and progress in Bauchi state.

“We the coalition of civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, political groups of youth and women wings for good governance and transparency in Bauchi State, wholeheartedly support Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s bid for the gubernatorial seat in 2027.
