Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged-off the construction of two flyover projects in Bauchi State.
Shortly before the flagging off ceremony held at Wunti Round About on Sunday, Fintiri described Mohammed as “the Working Governor of the North”
Fintiri, who was in company with Governors Babgana Zullum (Borno State), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe State) and several dignitaries for the flag off, congratulated Mohammed on the numerous projects executed by his administration in the state.
He praised his Bauchi counterpart for his vision and courage that had enabled him to deploy resources to build state of the art infrastructures across the state.
“In the design and prioritization of projects, only few leaders have the courage to rise above laziness and braze up to gigantic project like this,” Fintiri said.
“Even fewer ones have the commitment to complete such projects”.
He said that Mohammed is among the few governors to have demonstrated exemplary leadership style.
“About three years ago, we were in Bauchi to break the ground for the new Government House project,” he recalled.
“Skeptics thought it was a white elephant job, but Senator Bala Mohmmed has proved them wrong.
“Today, we are witnesses to the translation of vision into fruition”
Fintiri argued that the developmental strides of Governor Mohammed was a reward for voting People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into power in the state.
The Adamawa State governor stated that infrastructural deficits were parts of the challenges of urban centers.
He said further that visionary leaders must put on their thinking caps and provide solutions to both the present future generation.
According to him, flyovers are not just symbols of municipal aesthetics but serve as boosters to free vehicular traffic.
He opined that construction of such projects in Bauchi was a good decision that would define the vision of governor to solve problems.
In his remark, Governor Mohammed explained that the fly overs were to be constructed along Wunti and Central Market areas in the metropolis.
The first of its kind in the state, he said the historic project would alter the landscape of Bauchi Metropolis.
He said the project would radically redefine urban transportation to give residents a completely new experience.
Mohammed said that it was informed by the need to curb rapid population growth, encroachment of the state’s road corridors as well as effort to recover the city from unplanned expansion.
The governor said the present government’s stride in developing the state would improve the Gross Domestic Product of the state and reposition it for economic viability and growth.
