Equatorial Guinea, which beat host Ivory Coast 4-0, Guinea  Bissau 4-2 after securing 1-1 draw with Nigeria in the group stage, could not break down a resolute Guineaan team.

Sylla cost Guineaan a penalty after a challenge  on Coco  in the 64th minute  but a chance for Equatorial Guinea to take lead was blown away after Captain Nsue shot hit the woodwork.

Bayo  then broke the hearts of Equatorial Guinea after what appeared to be heading for extra time with a sublime header to land his country into the round 8 to play the winner in.the encounter between Egypt and Dr Congo later in the day
