AFCON: Rohr reveals 2 problems with Cameroon ahead clash with Nigeria
Ewache Martins
Gernot Rohr, a former handler of the Super Eagles, has highlighted two major problems with the Cameroon national team ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nigeria.
The Indomitable Lions will come up against the Super Eagles in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan.
Rohr, who is the immediate past coach of the Nigerian team, said that Cameroon are plagued by defensive woes with six goals conceded in three matches during the group stage, an average of two goals per game.
Another problem he pointed out is the strained relationship between goalkeeper Andre Onana and manager Rigobert Song.
Rohr has predicted that the Super Eagles will beat Cameroon once again just as they did in the last 16 of the 2019 AFCON.
“They have the best player in Africa so I’m sure they will qualify but it will be difficult of course because Cameroon is becoming strong again with this victory against the Gambia in the last minute but they still have little defensive problems,” Rohr said to The Guardian UK reporter Osasu Obayiuwana.
“They have problems inside the group, the goalkeeper relationship. Nigeria must avoid these problems.
