Mark urges FG to end killings on the Plateau
From Our Editor
Former President of the Senate, Sen. David Mark has urged President Bola Tinubu to review the security architecture, to make it more proactive and strategic towards addressing the challenges.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Mumeh in Kano on Tuesday.
Mark said a review will identify the loopholes and devise a means to end the blood-shedding.
He said the Plateau incidents in which scores of citizens were massacred should be a wake-up call that the security challenge needs urgent attention.
“It will not be out of place to declare an emergency on security. Any step taken to end the continued killing of citizens will be worth the trouble,“he said.
He urged the federal government and security agencies to do more, saying that life has become so cheap in Nigeria today as if people have lost humanity in them.
Mark implored the government to collaborate with subnational governments in the task of ensuing peace and security in the country.
He commiserated with the government and people of Plateau just as he suggested that residents should be on alert, and cooperate with security operatives to prevent reoccurrence.
The former senate president called for harmonious relationship among various ethnic and religious adherences in the country.
Mark advised against taking grievances to the extreme, pointing out that “there are legitimate channels to address grievances instead resorting to self-help.
