The Bauchi State Commissioner for Education Dr Jamila Dahiru has assured that the road map emanating from Education Summit organized by Governor Bala Mohammed would be implemented vigorously.

Dahiru, who made this remark in an interview with journalists on Monday evening at the end of the close of business session for Day one of the Summit, said the governor’s commitment to education brings hope on the implementation of the outcomes.

She described the Education Summit, the first ever in the state, as a success.
She was optimistic that the summit and the governor’s dedication to revamp the sector would take education in the state to the next level.

“Looking at the various resources persons that were brought here, we are not talking about politics, we are talking about the future of Bauchi State,” she said.

“There are people here that I am assuring you will not go to sleep until we develop the road map and I know that his excellency is determined to bring back the excellence in education in Bauchi State and the implementation is a 100 per cent assurance.

.
“You can see all relevant stakeholders including the traditional institutions, all resource persons, people that have a say in policy formulation, heads of agencies related to the Ministry of Education and all other related agencies are all around, everybody is contributing.

“We are happy with the participation, we are happy with the contributions, we are happy with what is being said.

“You can see from the outcome that people are willing to contribute to the education standard or improving education in Bauchi state”

The Commissioner said the summit was one of the arrangements put in place to reduce the high level of out of school children in the state.

“You look at the theme “Nurturing a flourishing future: Improving access and quality education in Bauchi State,” talking about access and improving quality of the education,” she said

If you look at access you see that we are trying to see how we can enroll our students in all of our schools not only at the pre-primary and primary level but even at the higher institutions so that we can improve the human capital and capacity a and economic development of the state”

She explained that apart from access, giving quality education to every child was a focus of the summit expressing optimisms that at the end of the summit a roadmap on education would be developed.

“The roadmap will be implemented in the state with key attention and emphasis and all that it takes to be implemented so that we will bring back the excellence of education in Bauchi state.

Dahiru explained that as part of efforts to improve quality of education, Governor Bala Mohammed is giving emphasis to the recruitment of qualified teachers across schools in the state.

“From our discussions on human capital development in education so many recommendations were given including the adaptation of technology to improve the human capacity of our teachers,” she said.
“Improving the human access to education because humanity is all about capital development.

“I would say that we have arrangements to improve on the human capacity of our teachers, increase the number of our teachers and improve the teachers”

The Commissioner for Education disclosed that one of the key resource persons was the Director General and Chief Executive of the Nigeria Teachers Institute.

“The Director General spoke highly on the need to improve the training of our teachers and on recruiting the right people into our classrooms,” she said.

“I am sure these are the kinds of recommendations that we are going to implement in Bauchi State to improve the quality of our teachers in Bauchi State”

Commenting on indices of education in the state, Dahiru opined that the state challenge is not the number of teachers but the inequality in the redeployment of teachers.

She said the issues of low level personnel, teachers’ capacity to teach technical skills and vocational trainings were among issues that will be addressed after the summit to improve quality education.
