The Emir of Bauchi, Alh. Rilwanu Adamu has commended the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) and all the governors of the Northeast over developmental projects brought to the region.

The first class Emir made the commendation in Bauchi on Friday, when the governing board of the NEDC led by its Chairman, Gen. Paul Tarfa rtd and the Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Alkali, paid him a courtesy visit.

According to him, the activities of the NEDC commission toward the general well-being of the populace in the region could not be overemphasised.

“The NEDC has been the stimulus to the development of the Northeast region.

“In your tremendous improvement to the general well-being of our people, I think that’s what attributed the authority to consider you people to once again steer the affairs of the commission.

“It is obvious and no longer history that with the current economic meltdown, compared with the security challenges, it has affected the general socio-economic of the general public especially, our region.

“However, notwithstanding, we appreciate and are proud of our governors in this Northeast subregion.

“They are doing the needful, they are working tirelessly to ensure the general well-being of our people especially, in terms of security, social amenities, education and agriculture among others,” he said.

Adamu also proclaimed the emirate’s support for any holistic approach and programmes by the commission that would bring about development in the Northeast sub-region.

He however, encouraged the commission to continue to come up with programmes and policies that would further stabilise the economic revitalisation in the region and the nation at large.

Earlier, the Chairman, Governing Board of the Commission, explained that the visit to the Emir’s palace was to reiterate the commitment of the commission toward the continuation and execution of its mandate in the region and the country at large.

He said the commission is composed and studded with talents with the capability to deliver its mandate effectively.

“I assure you, your Royal Highness, that we are in Bauchi in continuation of what we did before during the last four years.

“We are here to assure our continuity and to see the progress so far in Bauchi and to also see our collaboration with the government of this state on what else to be done in this historic state,” he said
