Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed optimism that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar will win the 2023 Presidential election.

Governor Mohammed made the remark on Wednesday while inaugurating the Presidential and Governorship joint Campaign Council for the forthcoming general election.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the governor opined that Atiku is more popular than other Presidential candidates adding that the former Vice President was more acceptable.

He argued that Atiku’s popularity and acceptance can be attributed to his antecedents and the current disillusionment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Nigeria people.

Mohammed argued that the popularity of the PDP due to the excellent performance of his administration in Bauchi State in the past three years also gives the party the edge to triumph at both the National and State levels at the polls.

The governor, who was flanked by the Deputy Governor Senator Baba Tela, Speaker of the State Assembly, Suleiman Abubakar, Chairman of the PDP in the state, Hamza Akuyam, Senator Abdul Ningi, the Senatorial candidate for Bauchi North, Faruq Mustpaha, the DG of the Campaign Council, however urged all and sundry in the party to work hard to achieve victory.

The over 600 member Campaign Council has 31 various sub committees, with the Governor serving as the Chairman of the Council, the PDP Chairman Hamza Akuyam as Deputy Chairman and Faruq Mustapha Ahmed as the Director General (DG) respectively.

Others are the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Nuhu Zaki, who will serve as the Deputy Director General (Operations), Pharmacist Samila Brugga (Deputy D-G (Administration) and Hassan Gamawa (Deputy D-G (Technical)

Inaugurating the Campaign Council at Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed argued that PDP remains the strongest and more popular political party which has the capacity of winning elective positions.

He stated that the massive supporters that thronged the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium when the Presidential candidate visited the state to receive thousands of decampees was a clear indication that the PDP remains strong in the state.

While reiterating his pledge to mobolise 100 percent votes from Bauchi and mobilize the entire north for Atiku in 2023, and assured candidates in the state that his Vice Chairmanship of the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation (North) will not in any way diminish votes of candidates in the state.

While assuring commitment to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his administration, the Governor also solicited the support of all the electorate for his reelection and all the candidates of the party in the state for the next election.

In his remark earlier, the PDP Chairman Hamza Akuyam, asked for forgiveness of any member who felt aggrieved in the last primary election of the party in the state.

Akuyam assured that with the excellent performance of the PDP administration in the state, the party will secure victory at the polls and urged faithful to work hard to ensure victory for PDP at the polls.

Speaking on behalf of the Campaign Council, the Director General Faruq Mustapha who is the former APC Gubernatorial Aspirant, assured to mobilise the required voters towards the success of all PDP candidates.
