Katsina State Transport Authority settles N50 million debt

Katsina State Transport Authority, KSTA, has settled outstanding debts of N50 million incurred by the past administration in the State.
The General Manager of KSTA, Alhaji Haruna Musa Rigoji, confirmed this when he presented three additional 18 seater buses purchased by the authority.
Rigoji said the debts were settled after verification by the Auditor General of the State.
He however, stated that KSTA is now left with a debt of only N480,000 owed Niger Insurance company, which is now out of operation.
He emphasised that the management of KSTA was up and doing in ensuring safety of travellers who also pay less as transportation fare.
The GM thanked Governor Aminu Bello Masari and the current leadership of the KSTA for transparency saying it has led to the growth and sustenance of its operations.
The Governor, he said, was particularly impressed with the adherance to laid down rules by the management of KTSA who operated as an autonomous body.
“This proves that KSTA can stand on its feet by laying a solid foundation for enhanced transport authority under his watch,” he said
“With the purchase of three additional buses, the Authority now has 27 buses, apart from the five earlier gonated by the state Governor”
