Gombe Hotels Proprietors void Consumption Tax by Revenue Board

Hotels Proprietors in Gombe State under the aegis of the ‘Lodging Proprietors and Hoteliers Association’ have rejected a new tax proposed by the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue tagged ‘Consumption Tax’.
Consultant to the association, Comrade Suleiman Umar in a statement issued to our correspondent yesterday, said they succeeded in making the board to suspend the new tax in the state.
Umar said during a meeting with the board and the hotel proprietors on September 5, presided over by the chairman, the Board considered the idea to cede to the consumption tax in the state.
“Having been confronted with facts and proofs that lawfully voided the said consumption tax law in Gombe State, the service considered cede to the consumption tax law in Gombe State after thorough conversation on the facts and proofs that lawfully voided the said consumption tax law constitutionally,” he said.
He added that having resolved the said consumption tax issues, the chairman of the Board Inuwa Tata ordered the Hoteliers to remit all their outstanding taxes before the end of October,2022.
