Female journalist battered by husband in Adamawa, NUJ demands for justice

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Adamawa State Council has condemned the alleged brutalization of one of its members, Nafeesa Vandi, by her husband.
This was contained in a statement signed by Ishaka Donald Dedan, Chairman, and Fidelis Jockthan, Secretary of the Council respectively.
According to the statement, the Council called on FIDA, UNFPA, UNICEF to intervene over the battering of the journalist by the husband.
It condemned in strong terms, the assault and battering of VANDI, a staff of the News Department, Adamawa Broadcasting corporation Yola on Wednesday,17th August 2022.
The union described the act as unacceptable, wickedness, and barbaric, beating a professional female practicing journalist to a stupor by her husband, Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, a former staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN)
The police, Nigeria Correspondents learned, have already swung into action in investigating and arresting the perpetrator for domestic violence.
The NUJ called for a speedy action towards the immediate arrest and prosecution of Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu according to the law and constitution of Nigeria.
