Breaking: INEC Declares Adeleke winner of Osun governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, has declared Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke winner of the Osun State governorship election with 403,371 votes.
Declaring Adeleke the winner on Sunday morning, the returning officer for the Osun governorship election, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe announced that Ademola polled 403,371 votes.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate polled the highest vote to defeat his major contender, Governor Gboyega Oyetola who pulled 375,027. The Action Democratic Party (ADP) Kehinde Atanda was the second runner-up.
Adeleke won 17 local governments while Governor Oyetola from the ruling party won 13 local governments.
The former lawmaker had in 2018 contested with the incumbent governor and lost the election to him in the rerun.
