The Central Working Committee on the establishment of the Mining Institute Alkaleri, Bauchi State (MIABAS), has successfully concluded its assignment and finalised arrangements for the submission of its report to the State Government.

At its final session, the committee recommended the conversion of the Mineral Buying Centre, Alkaleri, to serve as a temporary take-off site for the proposed institute.

Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Hon. Muhammad Maiwada Bello, who presided over the final session, described the committee’s recommendations as a significant milestone toward the actualisation of the mining institute.

He disclosed that the final report would be forwarded to Governor Bala Mohammed for consideration, in line with the administration’s commitment to advancing the solid minerals sector in Bauchi State.

Bello further explained that, upon the governor’s consideration, the proposal would be transmitted to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and the provision of the necessary legal framework for implementation.

He commended members of the Central Working Committee and its sub-committees for their dedication, technical contributions, and commitment to delivering on their mandate within the stipulated timeframe.

The commissioner also appreciated, Governor Mohammed for his timely support and leadership in driving the initiative.

He expressed optimism that with prompt action from both the executive and legislative arms of government, the Mining Institute Alkaleri will soon commence operations, thereby strengthening Bauchi State’s efforts toward economic diversification and sustainable development in the mining sector
