Plateau Govt Imposes 48-Hour Curfew in Jos North After Deadly Attack

The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly security incident in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, which claimed several lives and left others injured.

This was announced in a press release signed by Honourable Joyce Lohya Ramnap
Commissioner for Information and Communication, on March 29, 2026


The curfew, which takes immediate effect from midnight of March 29 to April 1, 2026, was announced in collaboration with security agencies as part of efforts to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order in the area.


Condemning the attack, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang described the incident as barbaric and unprovoked.

The governor , assured residents that those responsible would be apprehended and brought to justice.


The government urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while also calling on residents to cooperate fully with security agencies by providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.


The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, on Sunday.


Authorities say security has been reinforced in the affected areas as efforts continue to stabilize the situation.
