“No Kings”: Millions Protest Across the United States Against War With Iran

Our Editor
he streets of United States had not seen anything like it in decades.
From the towering skyline of New York City to the sunlit avenues of Los Angeles, and the power corridors of Washington, D.C., millions of voices rose in unison. They called it the “No Kings” protests, a movement born out of anger, fear, and a deep sense that something had gone too far.
It began quietly, with small gatherings and handmade placards. But after the joint military strikes by the U.S. and Israel on Iran, the mood shifted. What started as concern turned into a tidal wave of resistance. By March 28, over 3,000 protests had erupted across all 50 states.
In a crowded square in Minnesota, Amina stood clutching a sign that read “Hands Off Iran.” Around her, chants echoed, led by activists from Code Pink and the Democratic Socialists of America. For many, it wasn’t just about war, it was about rising fuel prices, economic strain, and what they saw as a dangerous drift toward authoritarianism.
Across the Atlantic, the movement found echoes. In London, Paris, and Amsterdam, crowds gathered under grey skies, chanting and waving banners. Some shouted “Vietnam for USA,” invoking memories of a past conflict that still haunted history.
Meanwhile, in Washington, a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army marched on—orderly, precise, and powerful. But just beyond the barricades, the voices of protestors carried farther than the drums.
A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that most Americans no longer supported the war. And as reports surfaced of attacks near U.S. bases in Dubai and Doha, and of injured troops, fear spread that this conflict might grow into something far larger.
For Amina and millions like her, the protests were more than a moment—they were a warning.
A reminder that even in the most powerful nations, the loudest force is still the voice of the people
