Bauchi Governor Commends NEDC, Assures of Continued Partnership

From Paul Orude Bauchi
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has praised the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) for its impactful interventions across the state, assuring that his administration will continue to complement and support the Commission’s efforts toward regional development.
The governor gave the commendation during the commissioning of the newly constructed Bauchi State Office of the NEDC, and a Mega School built by the Commission at Dungal in Bauchi Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event, Senator Mohammed, who was represented by his Deputy Hon Auwal Jatau, described the commissioning of the Bauchi State Office as a significant milestone.
He noted that the presence of a befitting office would enhance effective coordination and implementation of NEDC programmes in the state.
Governor Mohammed added that the office’s strategic location would improve accessibility and strengthen collaboration between the Commission and relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The governor also lauded the construction of the Mega School, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Commission’s commitment to improving access to quality education for children, regardless of their socio-economic background.
According to him, education remains the foundation of societal development, and any neglect of the sector poses a threat to long-term progress.
Governor Mohammed noted that NEDC’s interventions have complemented the Bauchi State Government’s development agenda, particularly in critical sectors such as education.
He disclosed that since 2019, his administration has prioritised education at basic, secondary and tertiary levels, embarking on massive rehabilitation and construction of educational infrastructure across the state.
The governor further reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening social services, especially education and healthcare, to ensure inclusive access for all eligible citizens. He explained that the establishment of key ministries such as Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; Internal Security and Home Affairs; and Higher Education and Regional Integration aimed at enhancing coordination and maximising the impact of federal interventions, including those of the NEDC.
Earlier, the governor was received at the newly built NEDC office in Bauchi by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside the Commission’s management led by the managing Mohammed Goni Alkali.
In his concluding remarks, Senator Mohammed assured the NEDC of Bauchi State’s readiness to work closely with the Commission and other North-East states to promote peace, economic recovery, and regional integration.
He expressed optimism for an even stronger partnership in the years ahead and wished the Commission continued success in the discharge of its mandate.
