NEGGI Hails Tinubu’s Appointment of Yuguda as North-East Coordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative
From Paul Orude, Bauchi
The North East Good Governance Initiative (NEGGI) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Bauchi State Governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, as the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative Committee.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Sani Ahmed, NEGGI described the appointment as a strategic move that reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and accelerated development across all regions, particularly the North East.
Ahmed said the region, which had faced years of insurgency, economic decline, infrastructural decay, and deep social challenges, requires a competent and visionary leader capable of driving recovery and rebuilding public confidence.
According to him, Yuguda fits this profile, given his distinguished public service career and track record of developmental achievements.
He noted that Yuguda’s previous roles as former Managing Director of Inland Bank and Merchant Bank, Minister of Aviation, and two-term Governor of Bauchi State, demonstrate his competence in fiscal management, infrastructure renewal, administrative leadership, and community engagement.
During his tenure as governor from 2007 to 2015, Yuguda initiated reforms and projects that significantly shaped Bauchi State’s development trajectory.
These include the establishment and expansion of Bauchi State University, upgrades to health facilities such as the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, modernisation of transport infrastructure including Bauchi Airport, and substantial investments in roads, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment.
NEGGI stated that Yuguda’s appointment would strengthen ongoing federal interventions in the region, deepen grassroots engagement, and boost socio-economic renewal.
The group added that his credibility and wide acceptance across the North East would further reinforce public confidence in President Tinubu’s administration.
The group expressed confidence that the synergy between Tinubu’s national development agenda and Yuguda’s regional influence would generate stronger political momentum for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
NEGGI described the appointment as a “masterstroke in strategic governance and pledged full support for Yuguda and the Renewed Hope Initiative Committee.
The group promised to mobilise stakeholders across the region to ensure the success of federal programmes targeted at improving lives in the North East.
