As part of plan towards transition to paperless public service, the Bureau of Public Service Reform (BPSR) has organised five days intensive training to Nigerian workers selected from different regions in the country on technology-driven operations.

The training opens in Gombe State on Tuesday with public servants from different sectors and regions across Nigeria in attendance.

Declaring the workshop open, the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), Dr Dasuki Arabi, said the training was designed to reshape the mindset of government workers and prepare them for a modern, technology-driven public service.

He explained that the workshop would equip participants with knowledge on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain technology, and fully digitised operations that would eliminate the use of paper in government offices.

Arabi noted that the introduction of these technologies by the BPSR has already contributed significantly to improving transparency, efficiency, and accountability across various levels of government.

According to him, several corrupt practices have been reduced due to the introduction of paperless operation by the Bureau and urged state governments that have yet to adopt that to collaborate with the BPSR to do so in order to modernise their public service systems and improve service delivery.

In a goodwill message, the governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, represented by the state Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, commended the BPSR for ‘the comprehensive reforms’ it has introduced.

He said the partnership between the Gombe State government and the Bureau has yielded positive results, leading to significant improvements in the state’s public service.

The governor encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop to advance modernisation and enhance productivity at all levels of government.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who was represented at the event, affirmed his organisation’s commitment to supporting initiatives that modernise government operations.

He added that adopting digital tools and automated processes would help curb unauthorised financial leakages and strengthen accountability in public institutions.
