As Gov. Bala Hosts VP Shettima, Atiku, NSA, Ministers, Others

Bauchi State stood agog as Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed joined millions of people across the globe, alongside top dignitaries at the funeral prayer of renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away at the age of 102.

Among prominent personality that paid their last respect to the revered cleric include Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; elder statesman and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Others were the Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago; Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf; ministers; federal and state lawmakers; traditional rulers; and clergymen.

Vice President Shettima led the Federal Government delegation to the funeral, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, while His Excellency Atiku Abubakar led thousands of faithful and die-hard followers of the famous Sheikh to the Eid ground where the prayer was conducted.

The funeral prayer of the late Sheikh was led by Ash-Sheikh Al-Mufti Sharif Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussain at the Bauchi Eid Ground, as millions of mourners from within and outside the country paid their final respects to the greatly admired scholar.

Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi died in the early hours of Thursday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.

He is survived by over seventy children, hundreds of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and countless followers across the world. His passing has been described as a monumental loss to Nigeria’s religious landscape and the global Muslim community.

Already, President Tinubu and other global leaders, Christian associations, and various religious sects have sent their condolences to the people of Nigeria over what many have described as the loss of the century.
