Bauchi NAWOJ Wins National Award as Best Performing Chapter, Presents Honour to SA Media

The Bauchi State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has been honoured with a National Award as the Best Performing Chapter, following its outstanding contributions to media development and women advocacy in the state.
The National NAWOJ leadership also commended Bauchi for being the first chapter in the country to successfully host the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting in 2024, a milestone that further strengthened its visibility and organizational excellence.
During a brief ceremony held on Thursday in Bauchi, the chapter’s executives presented the award to the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to the Governor, Bala Mohammad, Mukhtar Gidado.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson of Bauchi NAWOJ, Rashida Yusuf, said the recognition reflects the chapter’s dedication to professionalism, capacity building, and advocacy for women and girls. She noted that hosting the CWC meeting was a major achievement that showcased Bauchi’s organizational strength and hospitality.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and commitment of women journalists in Bauchi. Being the first to host the CWC meeting and receiving national recognition shows how far we have come,” she said.
Receiving the award, the SA Media praised NAWOJ for its exceptional performance and for raising the profile of Bauchi State at the national level. He assured the association of continued support from the government, particularly in initiatives that promote gender equity, responsible journalism, and community empowerment.
Bauchi NAWOJ reaffirmed its commitment to building on these achievements and enhancing its programmes to further impact the state and the profession.
