From Paul Orude Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Lawan Sani, of Bakin Kura, Bauchi, for allegedly raping several teenage girls in Unguwar Sarakuna.
Police spokesman, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspect, who works as a watchman, was apprehended on September 1, 2025, around 4:00 p.m., after a distress call reported an attempt to rape a 16-year-old girl.
Operatives from C Division, led by Divisional Police Officer SP Naziru Abubakar Pindiga, swiftly responded and arrested Sani at the scene.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to luring the victim with N500 into the house where he works. Further investigation revealed that he had also molested two other teenage girls through similar tricks,” Wakil said.
The three victims later confirmed the allegations, disclosing that Sani assaulted them on more than 15 occasions while threatening them not to tell anyone.
Police said both the suspect and the victims have undergone medical examinations as part of the ongoing investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured that justice will be served and called on the public to support efforts to protect children from sexual predators.
