Bauchi Approves ₦32,000 Minimum Wage for Pensioners

The Bauchi State Executive Council (SEC) has approved a new minimum pension of ₦32,000 for retirees in the state.
The decision was reached during an extraordinary SEC meeting held at Government House, Bauchi, presided over by Governor Bala Mohammed. a release signed by Abdulwahab Muhammad, his Senior Special Assistant on Communication, disclosed
Briefing journalists after the SEC meeting, Mohammed Sani Umar, Head of Civil Service, described the approval as a reflection of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of senior citizens.
Umar confirmed that pension allowances had also been increased to reflect current economic realities.
“In furtherance of infrastructure development, the Council ratified the Governor’s approval for Mother Cat Ltd to continue the remaining portion of the Charachara–Ragon–Magonshi–Azare road project in Katagum Local Government Area, covering over 30 kilometers and extending access to previously excluded wards under the RAAMP initiative,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief Economic Adviser, Yahuza Adamu Haruna, reported that the 2025 budget had performed successfully, prompting the administration to prepare a supplementary budget for presentation to the State House of Assembly to accommodate additional development projects.
In his remark, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Ketkukah, announced Council approval for the redesign and realignment of the Danazo–Gabchiyari road.
Ketkukah also announced the construction of a new road linking the International Conference Center to Abubakar Rimi Road. He disclosed that payments for permanent works to K.K. Kingdom Company under a Public-Private Partnership framework were also approved.
In the education sector, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayan, Commissioner for Education, confirmed that Council approved the upgrade of selected Junior Secondary Schools to full Secondary School status, aimed at enhancing teaching and learning across the state.
“These decisions reflect the administration’s commitment to inclusive development, fiscal responsibility, and improved public service delivery. Governor Bala Mohammed continues to prioritize infrastructure, education, and welfare as pillars of progress in Bauchi State,”
