It was a day of pomp and cultural splendour as the Bauchi Emir’s Palace hosted the historic turbaning of Rtd. Controller of Customs, Bala Mohammed Gidado, as the 9th Sarkin Alkaleri.
The colourful ceremony, held in the presence of top government officials, political leaders, traditional title holders, and community stakeholders, followed the passing of the late Sarkin Alkaleri, Alhaji Muhammad Abdulkadir.

The dignitaries’ attendance underscored the importance of the Sarkin Alkaleri stool in Bauchi’s traditional hierarchy.
Following the formal turbaning at the Emir’s Palace, the celebrations moved to Alkaleri town where a grand Durbar was staged to herald the reign of the new monarch.
The display of horsemen, traditional music, and vibrant attire reflected the rich cultural heritage of the emirate.

Among those present was the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade Muktar Muhammad Gidado, reaffirming government recognition of the occasion’s significance.
The day’s events blended age-old customs with contemporary prestige, marking a defining chapter in Bauchi’s cultural calendar.
