Wikki FC Trash Zamfara United 4-1
Wikki Tourists Football Club (FC), Bauchi has beaten Zamfara United football club 4-1 in an entertaining encounter in the 2024–2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The victory of Zamfara FC gives Wikki Tourists a comfortable position on the log in th Super Eight and climb to the top of the Group C Conference table with 23 points.
Jonathan Mairiga was adjudged most valuable player in the match, opening the scoring in the 10th minute and securing a brace to extend the lead in the 22nd.
Mentaka Bangs then made it three in the 38th minute before Mairiga completed a hat trick with a fourth goal in the 52nd minute.
Zamfara United’s Abba Musa pulled one goal in the 89th minute but the visiting team was unable to level up the score.
The Zamfara United’s Technical Adviser, Ali Mohammed, in a post match interview said his side lost to a superior side
“A match is win or lose today we lost, and that’s part of the game,” he said
“I congratulate Wikki Tourists FC. They were prepared for it and deserved the win. I wish them all the best.” he said.
Wikki Tourists’ Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, expressed his satisfaction with players performance.
“We set a target to qualify for the Super Eight, and we’ve achieved it. I believe these boys can take us all the way to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).” he said.
He also extended appreciation to the Bauchi State Government, the club’s management, supporters, and citizens of the state for their continuous support.
