Borno South Residents Urge Action Against Discriminatory Politics
By Najib Sani
Residents of Borno South in Borno State are calling for urgent action to address what they describe as discriminatory politics against the zone under Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s administration.
The community under the aegis of ‘Borno South Stakeholders Forum’ made the call in a press release signed by the Convener and Director General of the forum, Ishaya Malgwi.
According to him, the region has been marginalised in terms of infrastructure development, economic opportunities, and political representation.
“The people of Borno South face limited access to developmental projects, social services, and political empowerment, leading to feelings of being mere observers in the political affairs of their own state,” he alleged.
Malgwi emphasised that the current political dynamics have fostered a sense of disenfranchisement among the people of Borno South, creating a culture of dependency that undermines the area’s growth and potential for empowerment.
The forum therefore urged the people of the area to reclaim their political voice and demand equitable treatment and resource allocation.
“It is time for the people of Borno South to reject the complacency and dependency fostered by the discriminatory politics of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum regarding the region’s future,” Malgwi said.
