By Najib Sani, Gombe
The maiden edition of the 1K Tangale Youth Conference, organised by the Tangale Social Media Connect Initiative (TSMCI), has concluded with resounding success.
Our correspondent reports that the conference held at Billiri local government area of Gombe State brought together Tangale youths from across Gombe South and beyond with the theme: “Empower, Engage, Elevate: Connect for Change.”

During the event, the Acting Managing Director of N-HYPPADEC, Mr Jimoh Haruna Gabi, represented by the Acting DFA of the organisation, Ruth Asabe, hailed the determination demonstrated by Tangale youths to drive change in the community.
She emphasised that Mr. Jimoh Haruna Gabi is deeply youth-driven, believing strongly in the potential of young people regardless of tribe, culture, or religion.
He encouraged the youth to stay focused, to believe in their dreams, and assured of readiness to support them.
Convener of the conference, Christian Gideon Musa, highlighted critical challenges facing Tangale youth, including rising unemployment, disconnect from governance, erosion of cultural values, and peace and security concerns.
He noted that some of the resolutions taken at the conference include; prioritising youth capacity building through vocational and digital skills acquisition, pursuing partnerships with tech hubs, educational institutions, and development agencies and launching mentorship programmes linking youths with Tangale professionals.
Others are instituting an annual Tangale Youth Innovation Grant to support community-driven projects and a call on all stakeholders — government agencies, traditional rulers, and development partners — to collaborate with Tangale youths in building a brighter, prosperous future for Gombe South and beyond.
The conference also appreciated Senator Anthony Siyako Yaro, representing Gombe south who contributed to the success of the movement.
