SAZU Bauchi Organizes Capacity Building Seminar For 150 Academic Staff

The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, Bauchi State, has organized a 3-day capacity building seminar as parts of efforts to promote academic excellence and enhancing the professional development of the University
A press release by the Public Relations Officer for the University, Mr Auwal Hassan, disclosed that the seminar was initiated by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance.
Hassan said the seminar, held at the 500 Seat Lecture Theater of the main campus in Gadau, brought together 75 academic staff members from various departments of the university.
The statement said further that the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Aliyu, explained the seminar was designed to equip academic staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
“The seminar covered a range of topics including effective research grant writing, leveraging digital tools for teaching, reflective practice, and introduction to Research and Open Science for life science,” he explained.
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, emphasized the importance of the seminar, particularly for new staff members.
“This seminar serves as an orientation for our new staff members, and it’s essential for their growth and development,” she said.
Professor Tahir commended the Directorate of Academic Planning for initiating the seminar and urged participants to make the best use of the knowledge gained.
The seminar is part of SAZU’s commitment to enhancing the professional development of its academic staff. The university is dedicated to providing a conducive learning environment and promoting academic excellence.
In a related development, the university has announced plans to hold a similar seminar at the Yuli Campus on February 17, 2025, with an additional 75 participants. This brings the total number of participants to 150, further demonstrating the university’s commitment to staff development.
The seminar has been hailed as a success, with participants expressing their gratitude to the university for providing them with the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge.
