Comatose Media Machine of Governor Mohammed: A Threat to Good Governance
john Akevi
The Bauchi State government’s media team, tasked with showcasing the administration’s achievements and communicating its policies to the public, has been eerily silent. This inexplicable dormancy has created a void that is being exploited by rumor-mongers, misinformation peddlers, and speculation merchants.
The consequences of this inactivity are far-reaching. The governor’s efforts to improve the lives of Bauchi State residents are being undermined by the lack of effective communication. The public is being deprived of accurate information about the administration’s projects, policies, and achievements.
A recent example of this missed opportunity is the attack on Governor Bala Mohammed by FCT Minister Wike, foreign affairs Minister Tuggar, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Yakubu Dogara. The governor’s media team failed to adequately respond to these attacks, allowing misinformation to spread unchecked.
This lack of responsiveness not only damages the governor’s reputation but also erodes public trust in his administration. It creates an environment where speculation and rumor thrive, making it challenging for the government to achieve its goals.
To revitalize the governor’s media machine, his aides must adopt a more proactive, inclusive, and responsive approach to communication. This includes engaging with journalists, bloggers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the governor’s message is conveyed accurately and effectively.
Ultimately, the governor must take responsibility for the performance of his media team. By doing so, he can ensure that his administration’s achievements are showcased, and his public image is protected. The people of Bauchi State deserve a more effective and responsive government media machine.
