Bauchi Police Command Arrests 2,322 Suspected Criminals, Recover 23 AK-47 rifles, N22 million

Bauchi State police command has arrested a total of 2,322 suspected criminals out of 1182 crime cases recorded in 2024.
Among items recovered from suspects in the year under review include 23 AK-47 rifles, four G-3 riffles, three SMG riffles, 22 fabricated firearms and the sum of ₦22,038,000 million.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, at a press briefing at the state command headquatres Bauchi, on Monday.
Muhammad said the success was recorded in accordance with the policy thrust of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at combating crime and enhancing the safety of all citizens.

“The ommand, under my leadership, is implementing decisive measures to address criminal activities within the state,” he said.
“Our efforts will primarily focus on proactive initiatives designed to deny safe havens to criminal elements who may seek to challenge our commitments.
“To further this objective, the Command has undertaken a comprehensive reassessment of its crime prevention strategies, with Community Policing serving as the foundational element of our approach”
The Commissioner of police explained that the outcomes were recorded through the efforts of our State Criminal Investigation Department, the State Intelligence Department (SID), and Area commands, alongside 33 Divisional Headquarters and tactical units attached to the command:
“A total of 1182 cases were recorded, resulting in the arrest of 2, 322 suspects,” he said.
Giving the breakdown, the CP revealed that no fewer than 678 cases were recorded in the year under review out of 95 suspects were subsequently charged to court.
“Forty-eight cases involving 82 suspects culminated in successful convictions,” he added.
“Three hundred and ninety-six cases involving (816 suspects remain pending trial, while 30 cases are currently under investigation.
“The Command documented 73 cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) during this period”.
Other exhibit recovered from suspected include five fabricated pistols, 746 live ammunitions of various calibres 32 magazine and 100 cartridges
Also recovered, the Commissioner of Police disclosed, were 68 cutlasses, 26 knives
10 motor vehicles, 29 motorcycles, 69 handsets and 28 tricycles
“These successes were facilitated through critical information provided by the public, who remain essential partners in the effort to ensure a safe and secure environment,” Muhammad said.
