No fewer than 167 were seriously injured and received treatment in various hospitals within and outside the State.
Mai Riga made the commendation shortly after a fact-finding committee headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hafiz Inuwa (Rtd) presented its report to Governor Namadi, penultimate week.
He described Namadi’s administration as the best in terms of addressing the plight of the people of the State since being elected as governor.
“We have been providing timely responses and support to victims of flood and other disasters over the years and most importantly the inferno that claimed lives and properties worth millions of naira,” Mairiga said.
“Throughout my public and private life, I have never seen such a committed and workaholic leader like His Excellency Governor Umar Namadi.
“He doesn’t waste in giving us necessary support when it comes to serving the people day in day out which marks the remarkable awards of Humanitarian Governor of the Year for serving the humanity selflessly”
“So far, on directives of his excellency, we have positively touched lives of thousands of people through multiple palliatives which include distribution of over 12,000 bags of rice to flood victims, mats, relief materials just to mention a few”

“Governor Namadi has succeeded in reducing poverty and hunger in Jigawa to the lowest ebb,” the SEMA boss stated.
“I must commend Governor Namadi on the support and assistance rendered to displaced persons after evacuation of 14000 victims camped inside schools and public buildings,” he stated.
“Of course selected places were provided to provide succor to the people.
