From Abdul Ganiyu Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced N5 billion women empowerment initiative aimed at boosting micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises across Katsina State.
In a press release by brahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the announcement came during the launch of a grant distribution ceremony for 7,000 women from the Northwest region, held at the Local Government Service Commission conference hall in Katsina.
The event showcased a collaborative effort between the National Assembly Members Spouse Forum, Federal College of Horticulture Dadin Kowa, and AT&T Green Energy Solution.
“Empowering our women is crucial for building resilient families and a stronger economy,” Governor Radda stated.
He commended the initiative that provided N30,000 grants to 1,000 women from Katsina State.
The Governor further urged wives of State Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen to initiate similar programs in their constituencies.
The released stated that the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Hadiza Abubakar Yaradua, reinforced the ministry’s commitment to implementing the N5 billion program, emphasizing its focus on verified women entrepreneurs operating small and medium-scale businesses.
It revealed that National Coordinator of the Forum, Hajiya Yasmin Muaazu, explained that the current initiative benefits 7,000 women across 186 local governments in the Northwest region, demonstrating a broader regional approach to women’s economic empowerment.
“This comprehensive empowerment programme represents our administration’s dedication to women’s financial independence and economic growth,” Governor Radda added, pointing to the programme’s potential impact on family welfare and community development.
