The Kogi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator, Dino Melaye.
Melaye , who represented Kogi West in the 8th senate for anti-party activity, was suspended by the PDP executive in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1
The politician was invited to appear before a disciplinary committee to investigate alleged anti-party activities levelled against him.
He refused to honour the summons.
Metoric Post reports that the Ward party executive committee took the resolution to suspend the former senator during a meeting in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday.
The resolution was taken by the executive committee after the report of the disciplinary committee was reviewed
The resolution was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika and Ward Yodson Dayo, Secretary.
“Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable,” it stated.
“Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the People’s Democratic party, effective and immediately.
“The suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.”
The former senator accused the acting National Chairman of the party, Iliya Damagum; the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, of destroying the party.
