The Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, Bauchi State, Professor Fatimah Tahir, has pledged the continuous commitment of the University to High-Quality Research and Academic Rigour.
Tahir assured that the University would never compromise academic excellence.
The VC made the pledge during a workshop for the academic staff on Writing Grant-Winning Concept Notes and Proposals.
The training workshop was organised by the Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation in collaboration with Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU).
She emphasised that the institution will not settle for being perceived as “easy” but instead will strive for excellence in all aspects of its operations.
“We don’t want students subscribing to our University because we are easy, we want students to subscribe to our university because we are excellent. And one of the ways that we can show the world that we are excellent is by the excellent research work that comes out of our university,” she said.
Tahir’s statement marks a significant shift in the university’s approach to academic standards.
She maintained that the institution was committed to producing research findings that are impactful, innovative, and relevant to the needs of society.
“Our commitment to excellence is expected to elevate the University’s reputation and attract top talents from around the worldm,” the VC revealed.
Tahir highlighted research as a key area of focus for the university.
She stated that the University would invest heavily in research infrastructure and capacity building to ensure that its researchers have the resources they need to produce high-quality work.

“This investment is expected to yield groundbreaking research that addresses real-world problems and creates economic and social value,” she said further.

Tahir’s commitment to excellence extends to the University’s academic programmes.
She revealed that students would benefit from rigorous and challenging courses that prepare them for success in their chosen fields.

“The university’s focus on academic rigor is expected to produce graduates who are equipped to make a positive impact in society,” she stated.

The VC’s statement is a call to action for the University community to strive for excellence in all aspects of their work.
She noted that the University’s commitment to excellence would require hard work, dedication, and a willingness to embrace new ideas and approaches, expected to elevate its reputation, attract top talent, and produce groundbreaking research that addresses real-world problems.

As the University embarks on this new era of excellence, students, faculty, and partners can expect a renewed focus on academic rigor, innovation, and impact, she stated.
