NEDC donates 500 water pumps, others to farmers in Gombe
By Najib Sani
As part of its interventions towards revitalising the agriculture in the north east region, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has donated 500 water pumps and other inputs to dry season farmers in the state.
Speaking during the official handing over of the farming inputs to the state government, the acting coordinator of the NEDC in Gombe State Rufa’i Baba Manu explained that the commission was donating alongside the water pums other farming inputs including 5,000 litres of urea and 7,000 other agro-chemicals
.

He said the implements and inputs were handed over to the state government and senators of the state so that they would reach the beneficiaries directly.
Rufa’i said the gesture was meant to boost dry season farming which would concomitantly enhance food production and ensure food security.
Responding on behalf of the government, the state commissioner for agriculture Mr Barnabas Malle represented by an official of the ministry Jonathan Bulus lauded the NEDC for the intervention.
He said the intervention came at the right time ‘because many people are into dry season farming’ adding that the ministry has been able to identify about 46 areas in the state for dry season farming.
